Adeia Inc. and its subsidiaries, including Adeia Media Holdings LLC (formerly TiVo LLC) and Adeia Media LLC (formerly Rovi LLC) (collectively, “Adeia”), announced the End of Life of their ACP technology. ACP was introduced by Macrovision Corporation and was first applied to VHS tapes in 1984. After nearly four decades, Adeia has decided to discontinue this technology and shut down the ACP licensing program.
As a result of the ACP End of Life:
•
Adeia will no longer enter into new ACP license agreements or offer certification services for the incorporation of ACP technology into IC devices and hardware products.
• Anyone can now use ACP technology freely without liability to Adeia — Adeia will no longer enforce any contractual restrictions on the purchase, sale, use, or distribution of ACP technology, and Adeia is in the process of terminating or abandoning its patents in ACP technology.
If you have any questions or concerns, or to confirm whether a particular agreement is impacted by this notice, please contact Adeia at
