Spatial computing enables shared interaction across physical and virtual environments available to any one of the participants in the shared experience.

We continue to innovate with human-machine interface (HMI) technology and streaming media, two key enablers for spatial computing. We continue to create refinements to augmented reality (AR) glasses, virtual reality (VR) goggles, and other devices that will be used in spatial computing experiences. We are developing network systems, communications protocols, and other technologies required to support streaming media sharing in very close to real time.

Spatial computing requires the development of techniques for mapping, encoding, transmitting, and displaying real and virtual environments in real time, for creating avatars of participants that can be inserted into the displayed environments so that participants in the experience can hear, see, and – with haptic technologies – potentially even touch other participants in shared experiences. Adeia is conducting R&D for the full stack of Spatial Computing, contributing to making spatial computing a reality.
